Right now, drilling a water well by a water well drilling rig can be seen almost everywhere, drilling a water well for a village or drilling a water well for a community in a city for pure underground water. Do you know that there are different ways of drilling a water well? Mud pump drilling type and compressed air drilling type.

Using a mud pump to drill a water well is a slow way of drilling a water borehole, but some of our customers in the Philippines prefer to use a mud pump to drill a water well with a large diameter tricone rotary drilling bit. The function of the mud pump in a water well drilling rig is that when drills a water well with tricone rotary drilling bits, the drilling bits will get hotter and hotter, and the water pumped into the water well through the drilling pipe cools the heat of the drilling bits, and the cuts in the water well will be pushed out of the water well by water that is pumped into the water well borehole.
Using a screw air compressor to drill a water well borehole is very faster but it is not that economical compared to the mud pump drilling method, there are still some customers who prefer the compressed air drilling type. Attach the drilling pipe with a DTH drilling bit and using compressed air that is produced by a screw air compressor to power it makes the drilling process faster. The screw air compressor produces compressed air and delivers it into a DTH hammer, the DTH hammer makes the movements of percussion to a DTH drilling bit to cut the rock layers into pieces, then the compressed air will blow the cut out of the water well borehole.

To choose mud pump drilling type or screw air compressor drilling type is based on your needs and the formation of the earth. If there are too much hard rock layer formation, my suggestion is to use a screw air compressor to drill, because the tricone drilling bit is not the right drilling bit for hard rock layer formation.
