There are many types of drilling bits, they can be used for different purposes. Here are a few common uses of drilling bits: Tricone drilling bit, also called rotary drilling bits. DTH drilling bits are also called air drilling bits. PDC drilling bits are also called oil drilling bits.

First, we talk about Tricone drilling bits, in some countries, it is called rotary drilling bits or roller cone bit, cause it uses water to drill and cuts rocks into pieces by its rotation of the teeth. It is a mechanical drill bit and it is not that efficient for drilling rocks. The rotary drilling bit has two types of teeth, steel teeth, and tungsten carbide insert teeth.
Then we talk about DTH drilling bits, some call it air drilling bits or Percussion drilling bits. It uses compressed air to drill and cuts the rocks into pieces through the DTH hammer. Air drilling bits are attached to the end of a DTH hammer, the compressed air powers the DTH hammer in a movement of hitting while the DTH drilling bits rotate.
Last is the PDC drilling bits, some may call them oil drilling bits. This kind of drilling bit is usually used in the oil fields and used less in water well drilling fields. They are two types: Steel body PDC drilling bits and Matrix body PDC Drilling bits.
